Signs of Courage

When Israel’s children play
With the bombs flying around.
When Harriet Tubman was helping
The slaves with the railroad underground
When the Americans started the Civil War.
When Rosa Parks sat down.
When Anne Frank hid
And helped others hide when the Nazis came around.
When the Navajo code talkers
Helped us with their slang,
They helped the world listen
As the bells of freedom rang.
People helping people
As the towers hit the ground.
Never ending endurance
As nine coal miners were found.
When little Ruby Bridges
Crossed the lines of segregation,
She helped to bring together
All the colors in the nation.
Standing tall and being firm
When peer pressure is on.
Doing what you know is right
No matter who does wrong.
Bending down to help a friend
That no one cares to see.
Knowing you can lend a hand
"Unto the least of these.”
No matter what your station in the world that’s all around
Signs of courage,
Everywhere you look they can be found.
I used this one in the Reflections competion in 7th grade. My mom helped out some. It didnt do as good at my first Entry but it was still and "Honorary Mention" piece.
