I Hold in My Hand

I hold in my hand
Something round like a ball,
I hold in my hand
Nothing scary at all.
I hold in my hand
Different cultures and races,
I hold in my hand
People going different places.
I hold in my hand
Black, white, and yellow faces,
And they all live in different places
I hold in my hand
Loving mothers and fathers,
And all of their
Caring sons and daughters.
I hold in my hand
The rich and the poor,
I hold in my hand
More and more.
I hold in my hand
Everything and galore.
I hold in my hand…

THE WORLD.

I wrote this by myself & entered it into the Reflections Competition in 6th grade and won first place. This one is kinda what started off my poetry writing.

All I've ever Wanted

After you first talked to me,
I knew that is was true.
That out of everybody here,
I only wanted you.

You made me smile,
You made me laugh,
Which I don’t do so much.
But I can feel the butterflies,
Every time we touch.

Our future’s undecided
But people see it’s true,
You’re all I’ve ever wanted.
I hope you feel it too.

Signs of Courage

When Israel’s children play
With the bombs flying around.
When Harriet Tubman was helping
The slaves with the railroad underground
When the Americans started the Civil War.
When Rosa Parks sat down.
When Anne Frank hid
And helped others hide when the Nazis came around.
When the Navajo code talkers
Helped us with their slang,
They helped the world listen
As the bells of freedom rang.
People helping people
As the towers hit the ground.
Never ending endurance
As nine coal miners were found.
When little Ruby Bridges
Crossed the lines of segregation,
She helped to bring together
All the colors in the nation.
Standing tall and being firm
When peer pressure is on.
Doing what you know is right
No matter who does wrong.
Bending down to help a friend
That no one cares to see.
Knowing you can lend a hand
"Unto the least of these.”
No matter what your station in the world that’s all around
Signs of courage,
Everywhere you look they can be found.
I used this one in the Reflections competion in 7th grade. My mom helped out some. It didnt do as good at my first Entry but it was still and "Honorary Mention" piece.

Position of a Heart

It’s chipped,
It’s frail,
It’s fragile.
Even a little worn down

It’s torn,
It’s cracked,
It’s fractured.
But it’s bandaged all around

It’s creased,
It’s ripped,
It’s stepped on.
And feels a little sore

It’s poked,
It’s prodded and bleeding.
I can’t take it anymore!

It’s on its last beat
But I hide it from you all.
Another heart is pleading
But my heart won’t heed the call

My heart is hiding everything
That it has ever felt.
It’s like it’s in a car
And I’m the safety belt

Maybe

Our friends should stop the clatter.
They shouldn’t even care.
Maybe we should tell them off.
Do we even dare?
Maybe you should take me out.
Even prove them wrong.
Maybe you could be creative,
Write a little song.
Maybe you should kiss me,
To give them a surprise.
But just remember though,
This is only a disguise.
Maybe we will have some fun,
Maybe even joke.
Maybe, for the trick, they'll fall.
Maybe it won’t work at all!
Maybe I will fall for you,
Maybe you for me.
Maybe we will have our names carved into a tree.
Maybe you will think I'm cute.
I'm not a Southern Belle.
Maybe this is crazy talk...
Only time will tell.

Dont Leave

What ya thinkin bout me?
What ya wanna do?
Just tell me what you're feeling,
Cant stop thinking about you.

You Made me fall and I fell hard,
I'm scared of being abused.
I've totally let down my gaurd,
and now I'm all confused.

The time is here, the time is now,
Just make the right decision.
Tell me all the why's and how's,
I promise you, I'll listen.

Please dont let this chance pass by
or my heart will break in three.
Hug me if I start to cry
But baby, please dont leave.
